First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has scored five TDs in the present year
New England equaled their top unbeaten stretch since the Tom Brady era as they beat AFC East rivals the New York Jets by 13 points in the NFL
First-year standout Henderson was the standout with three TDs as the Patriots claimed an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since iconic QB Tom Brady's last year with the franchise in 2019
Signal-caller Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a TD, connecting on 25 of 34 passes
The triumph increases the Patriots advantage at the summit of the AFC East as they improved to a 9-2 record, with the New York bottom after dropping to a 2-8 mark
The visitors had scored first at Foxborough with QB Justin Fields rushing for a five-yard TD to finish the Jets' first possession
But the New England fought back in the second quarter as Henderson scored two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third quarter to push the score to 21-7
"It was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He wants to be outstanding."
Fields found Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to reduce the lead for the visitors but Andy Borregales booted a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the home side sealed the win
