During a low-scoring contest this weekend, the Denver Broncos managed to secure a 13-11 victory over the struggling New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix threw an early scoring strike and kicker Wil Lutz provided the late decisive three-pointer to secure the ugly win.
Even with registering nine sacks against Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 following conceding a two-point play in the second half. Interestingly, the Jets could only produce a mere 82 total net yards during the entire game.
Nix, who went 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's 27-yard kick with approximately five minutes left.
Despite their dismal offensive display, the Jets maintained possession with a opportunity to drive for a potential winning score. However Fields was sacked on fourth down from the Denver 44 after head coach Aaron Glenn opted to attempt the conversion instead of sending out specialist Nick Folk for a difficult kick.
The Jets quarterback had difficulties throughout, completing just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. New York ended up with minus-10 passing yards, the lowest in any contest since 1998.
"Our passing game was non-existent," the coach stated following the contest.
The running back surpassed 200 total yards for the second straight week and rookie Ryan Fitzgerald made a 33-yard field goal as time expired to secure the Carolina Panthers a 30-27 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
The Los Angeles Rams ended the opening two quarters with a goal-line stand and subsequently quarterback Matthew Stafford led them to two touchdowns to begin the second half in their comfortable victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
The quarterback passed for two scoring throws and Jonathan Taylor scored the decisive touchdown with 4:32 remaining, giving the Indianapolis Colts a 31-27 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
The quarterback threw touchdown passes to Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp, and Seattle dominated both lines of scrimmage on their way to a comfortable victory.
Aaron Rodgers passed for 235 yards and two scores, and the Pittsburgh Steelers had minimal difficulty in their 23-9 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
The quarterback escaped the defensive pressure and connected with Ladd McConkey for a 42-yard catch-and-run in the closing seconds, setting up Cameron Dicker's fifth field goal to secure the Los Angeles Chargers a narrow victory.
Drake Maye threw for 261 yards and three scores as the visiting New England Patriots defeated the New Orleans Saints by six points.
